Texas Tech proves that carrying a firearm on campus keeps people safer – Watch at Brighteon.com

Much to the chagrin of far-left, anti-gun lunatics, the great state of Texas passed a law back in 2016 allowing students, faculty, and others to carry concealed firearms on college campuses throughout the state. And guess what? It’s led to safer, more civilized campus experiences for those who attend schools that embraced the policy.

During a recent episode of her “Relentless” program, available for viewing at Brighteon.com, NRATV‘s Dana Loesch discussed how Texas Tech University in Lubbock is thriving as a result of campus carry.

“It makes the campus a safer place to live, learn, and educate.,” stated a campus police officer on July 30, praising the program. “I’d like to think we’re no longer a target of opportunity for any such events such as an active shooter, just because they know that if they come on campus, there could be a potential for an individual to be able to stop the active shooting.”

Texas Tech actually trains students and faculty how to safely use guns, rather than be afraid of them

In addition to allowing students and faculty to carry concealed weapons on campus, Texas Tech has further engaged a program of education in which those who want it can learn how to properly use firearms in the event of an emergency.

“We actually do a hands-on part where we barricade doors, we show you how to go hands-on with weapons, how to defend yourself, and then we also do a tourniquet training where we go in and have a stop-the-bleed so that all of our faculty, staff, and students are prepared if an event does happen here on campus,” the campus officer added.

In other words, education and learning, as opposed to fear and hysteria, is the way forward in promoting the Second Amendment while also maintaining a civil and safe society. But this is hardly the narrative that anti-gun extremists were spreading prior to Texas passing campus carry.

“Do you remember when this was passed? You had all of the anti-gun groups say that college campuses were going to turn into the Wild West, and that it was just going to be blood running through the streets, and it was just going to be mass chaos – not happening at all,” comments Loesch.

“In fact, you’re not seeing that epidemic that all of those anti-gun groups were out there fear-mongering, promising would happen.”

Instead of the world collapsing because law-abiding Texans are now allowed to carry firearms on college campuses, at least at participating campuses, society is actually growing stronger throughout the Lone Star State as a result of teaching personal responsibility. Who would have thought?

“Good on Texas Tech, and I hope that other college campuses across Texas – privately-owned institutions that can still determine whether or not they want to have firearms on campus – follow Tech’s example,” says Loesch.

Following Texas’ lead, the University of Kansas adopted a similar campus carry policy, and the outcome has been much the same – as in, overwhelmingly positive.

“Instead of creating ‘safe spaces’ for students, the university has permitted students full-use of their Second Amendment right to protect themselves,” writes our own J.D. Heyes.

“According to the Lawrence Journal-Report, ‘crime decreased 13 percent, with 671 criminal offenses reported to K.U. police in 2017 compared to 770 incidents in 2016, according to a news release from the K.U. Office of Public Safety … What’s more, there have been no incidents involving firearms violations, though there had been 14 reported incidences since 2008 up to that point.”
